In 2025, IBL joined the Girls Day initiative for the first time. In Slovakia, this project has been organized by Aj Ty v IT since 2014. Its goal is to introduce girls to the world of information technology and modern careers, and to show them that they have a place in IT as well. Girls Day is part of the International Girls in ICT Day, which takes place every year on the fourth Thursday in April. In 2025, it fell on April 24.
We are very happy to have become part of an initiative that brings IT closer to young students not only through technology, but also through real stories, work environments, and personal experience. This is exactly what makes Girls Day so unique. Girls get the opportunity to look into a world that is often surrounded by stereotypes and discover that technology is not just about coding, but also about creativity, collaboration, and the courage to try new things. The project itself is built on connecting high school girls with companies and organizations that open their doors and prepare interactive programs for them.

At IBL, we prepared a day full of inspiration, technology, and a relaxed atmosphere. We wanted to show the students that a career in IT does not follow just one fixed path and that they too can find their place in this field. The program included a meeting with women from our team who shared their experiences and showed what a real career journey in a technological environment can look like.
One of the most powerful moments was the story shared by our colleague Maru, who introduced her personal journey from working as a teacher to building a career in IT. These kinds of authentic experiences are very impactful because they show young people that changing direction is natural and that entering IT is not reserved only for those who have been involved in it since childhood.
The practical part of the program was led by our colleague Terezka, who introduced the girls to the basics of programming in Python. The goal was not only to present a specific programming language, but mainly to show that programming can be understandable, creative, and fun. We believe that a first contact with technology in a safe and supportive environment can be a decisive impulse for further studies or future career choices.

In addition to the professional program, we also showed the girls our office and company culture. They got a glimpse of how things work at IBL and experienced the informal side of our work environment, from relaxation zones to moments spent playing with VR or football. Our typical sock culture was also part of the experience, highlighting the friendly and relaxed atmosphere of the day.
At the end, we sat down together over pizza and had an open discussion in a circle of women about topics that interested the girls, including studies, careers, concerns, and the opportunities that the IT world offers. These open conversations are often the most valuable part of such events because they help break down stereotypes and show that behind technology there are great people, a willingness to help, and a culture of sharing experiences.

We are glad that we joined Girls Day for the first time and we believe it will not be the last. For us, it was not just a nice day in the calendar, but above all an opportunity to support young girls in discovering their potential, give them confidence, and show them that the world of technology is open to anyone who is willing to learn, explore, and grow.
